Sunday Stamps: Beards and moustaches

It's a sunny and slightly cool day in the American Midwest.  It's Sunday, and time for my contribution to Sunday Stamps.

The theme this week is beards and moustaches.  Our hostess featured a poet, and I am too!

This is an older stamp I have shown before.  But there is a full beard on display.  Whitman is one of the great American poets.

Sunday stamps: Mountains

Good day, and welcome to a cloudy and somewhat cool day in the American Midwest.  There was scattered frost last night.

It's time for Sunday Stamps, and the theme this week is mountains or hills.

I have a stamp I have shared before, a stamp from Russia:

I can't read the Russian.  A commenter at that time pointed out that these are in the Altai Mountains.  Definitely mountains, and snow covered!

Sunday Stamps: Flowers

Hello, and welcome to a pretty Spring day in the American Midwest.  The daffodils are slowly passing by and the tulips are blooming.  It's time for Sunday Stamps.

The theme this week is flowers, and I am sharing some stamps that came out a few years ago:

And a look at one of the stamps:

Simply beautiful.  These images are from the US Postal Service.  Yes, I have shared them before.  But they are worth sharing again!

Sunday Stamps: Easter

Happy Easter to those who celebrate this holiday.

It's a sunny and clear Easter day in the American Midwest.

Although the US Postal Service issues Christmas stamps, they do not issue Easter stamps.  So I have gone looking on the internet using Mr. Google and found these on an ebay listing:

Four paintings of the risen Christ from different periods of time, featured on some stamps from the Cook Islands.  Mint and unhinged, as you can see.

Sunday Stamps: Languages

Good day, and welcome to my contribution to Sunday Stamps.

It's a cool cloudy day in the American Midwest.

Our theme today is different languages, as they appear on stamps.  I have this stamp from Greenland:

(Yes I have shared it before.)  The words here are in the native Greenland Eskimo language and in Danish.  Denmark administers Greenland still, I believe.  This stamp came on a postcard from a student, sent to our department.
