Sunday Stamps: Persons of Interest

Good Day and welcome to my blog.  It is a cooler, cloudy day in the American Midwest.

It's time for Sunday Stamps, and the theme is persons of interest.

I am sharing a very new stamp issued by the US Postal Service,  It is of John Lewis, tireless advocate for civil rights.

He was a speaker in 1963 at the March on Washington (anniversary yesterday).  March 7, 1965: while trying to cross the Edmund Pettus Bridge during the March from Selma to Montgomery Alabama, he and about 600 other protestors for civil rights were set upon by police and beaten.  It has become known as "Bloody Sunday".  He later served in the US Congress for many years.

More information is available on the US Postal Service website.

Sunday Stamps: Endangered Species

Good Day, and welcome to my blog.  It is a beautiful sunny day in the American Midwest, with a cloudless sky.

It's time for Sunday Stamps, and the theme is endangered or vulnerable species.

The US Postal Service has recently released a set of 20 stamps that fit this theme.

Sadly, there are many more than 20 species that are endangered.  The Postal Service has picked large mammals such as the Gray wolf and the Florida panther shown here, but also a crayfish and a toad.
These images are from the USPS website, as I don't have these stamps in hand.

Sunday Stamps: Education

Good day, and welcome to my entry for Sunday Stamps.

It is a beautiful cloudless day in the American Midwest.  My coffee maker decided to stop working this morning, after many years of service.  So I am here on the blog without caffeine.

It's time for Sunday Stamps, and the theme is education.

I have no college or university stamps so I will share a stamp I had on here in May 2023 - a yellow School Bus, iconic symbol of American public education.

This scan is from the US postal service.  It's almost time for the busses to start rolling again in our community.

Sunday Stamps: Patterns

Good Day, and welcome to my blog.  I am back in the American Midwest.  It is a partly cloudy Summer day.

Time for Sunday Stamps, where the theme is Patterns.

Mail Adventures showed two higher denomination stamps for the US Postal Service with patterns on them, and I have here the highest denomination of all:

Four $10 stamps in a pane.  I think it's a pretty geometric design.  Prettier than a printout of the postage, don't you think?  This scan is from the USPS as I certainly don't have this in hand!
