Sunday Stamps: Swimmers

It's a cool Fall day in the American Midwest, and time for Sunday Stamps.

The theme this week is swimmers, and our hostess has shared some stamps of whales from Australia. This got me thinking of a stamp I shared a few weeks ago, for the week of new issues.  But why not share the whale stamp again:

It certainly fits the theme.

Sunday Stamps: Places of worship

Good day, and welcome to a rather warm fall day in the American Midwest.  It is time for Sunday Stamps.

The theme this week is churches or places of worship.  I am sharing a stamp I last shared in 2017, a stamp from Zazzle, a USA company that will print any image you choose onto t-shirts, mugs, mousepads, etc.

This is the rose window from Notre Dame in Paris.  It is so beautiful.  This stamp was good for 49 cents of USA postage, the going first class rate at the time.  Interestingly, Zazzle does NOT do custom USA postage stamps anymore.  I am not sure when they stopped allowing this.

Sunday Stamps: Black

Good day and welcome to my contribution to Sunday Stamps.

Our theme is black, perhaps because it's the 21st anniversary of the attack on Sept. 11 2001 in the USA.  However the Queen of Great Britain, Elizabeth II has also died, lending a solemnity to this week end.  Here in the USA flags are at half staff in her honor, for a few days at least.

My stamp for today is below:

A Tiffany stained glass lamp on a black background.  This stamp has the value of one cent, to make up postage.  It's been in use for a long time, since 2008.

Sunday Stamps: Good times

Good day, and welcome to my late entry for Sunday Stamps.  Family events today.

Our theme this week is festivals, fairs, or people having fun.

There is a set of stamps issued by the USPS called backyard games that fits the bill.

I don't have these in hand-- these are images from the USPS. Horseshoes, frisbee, croquet and what appears to be a sport from the American Midwest - cornhole.  I certainly never saw cornhole growing up in New England.

Have fun!
