Sunday Stamps: At sea

Good Day and welcome to my blog.  I am at my mom's house in New England for a visit.  It is a refreshingly cooler day.  Time for Sunday Stamps.

The theme this week is "At sea".  Perhaps one could be sailing?

This image is from the US Postal Service, and these are postcard stamps.

I'd also like to share a stamp honoring Eugenie Clark, a marine biologist who made many important studies of sharks.

Wish I could get to the ocean this summer!

Sunday Stamps: Play and Sports

Good day, and welcome to my blog.  It is going to be a warm hazy day here in the American Midwest.

It's time for Sunday Stamps.  The them today is "at play/sports".

The USPS has some stamps that fit the theme.

An arresting design, promoting Women's Soccer (football to the rest of the world).
And:

I don't know if you can see this, but these stamps showcase  the artwork on skateboards.  Both images are from the US Postal Service - I don't have these stamps in hand.

Sunday Stamps: Children's art

Good day, and welcome to a cloudy day in the American Midwest.  It's time for Sunday Stamps.

The theme this week is children's art, and I have a stamp I have shown before (long ago):

I do not recall how I acquired this stamp.  It is from the USSR, 1979, so it's vintage.  It is a slightly larger size so it shows the children's art well.  So sweet.

Sunday Stamps: Butterflies

Good day, and welcome to my blog.  It is a cool rainy morning in the American Midwest.  I've had some coffee, and it's time for Sunday Stamps.

The theme this week is butterflies or dragonflies.  Having none in hand, I turned to the web site of the US Postal Service.

This is the Colorado Hairstreak butterfly, native to the American west and southwest.  It can be found in forests and close to oak trees.  More on this species can be found on the US Postal service website.
This stamp is for large, lumpy, or square letters that can't go through the sorting machines.  That's what they mean by "non-machinable surcharge" printed on the stamp.
