Sunday Stamps: Halloween or Scary

Good day and welcome to my blog.  It is a cloudy day, moderate in temperature.  Trick or Treat happened on Thursday in my town, so we have left over (after some family consumption) the treats that no one really wants, not really.

Anyhow.  It is October 30, and time to share Halloween, scary, or Samhain stamps.  I have some from the US Postal Service, appropriate for this time of year:

A set of Day of the Dead stamps, issued in 2021, still available.  Featured are sugar skulls and other iconography.  According to the US Postal Service, these times are not scary, but involve music, special celebrations, and remembering those who have passed away.

Sunday Stamps: Lighthouses

Hello and welcome to my blog!  It is a warm sunny Fall day in the American Midwest.  Indian summer, if you will.

It's time for Sunday Stamps, and the theme is lighthouses or towers.  I have one from Germany that I have shared previously:

With a big bold cancellation!  The water is quiet in this view, but there must be shallow water near this lighthouse.

Sunday Stamps: Colorful

Good day, and welcome to my blog.  A beautiful fall day and the colorful leaves are gorgeous right now.  I should take a walk later today!

Speaking of colorful, that is the theme today for Sunday Stamps.  I have one from the US Postal Service:

This is what is known as a semi-postal stamp, according to the USPS.  The cost is higher than the going first class stamp, and the extra revenue raised goes to breast cancer research.  This stamp was released in 2014.  An appropriate stamp, as it is breast cancer awareness month.

Sunday Stamps: UNESCO sites

Good day, and welcome to my blog.  It is a lovely Fall day - little fall foliage yet but it will be coming soon. It's time for Sunday Stamps, and the theme this week is UNESCO heritage sites.

There are a number of such sites in the USA, but have they appeared on stamps?  Why yes, and in an issue earlier in 2022.

Monument Valley in Arizona, part of the Navajo nation.  Great geology, in great colors as seen in the stamp.  This area has been used as a backdrop for various television shows and Hollywood Westerns.

This is a stamp worth $8.95 for parcels, so you may not seen it very often.
