Sunday Stamps: Black and White

Good day, and welcome to my postcard and stamp blog.  It is a gloomy rainy day in the American Midwest.  Might as well write a blog entry.

Our theme today is black and white, and I have just the older stamp for this, from my Postcrossing days:

Two very young black and white kittens from the Netherlands.  This is an older stamp, used on a postcard to me.  So cute!

Sunday Stamps: Science

Good day, and welcome to my blog on stamps.  It is a cool day in the American Midwest, and the clouds are coming and going.  It's time for Sunday Stamps.

The theme this week is Science and I am lucky that the US Postal Service just released this stamp:

A NASA space mission, that has been spectacularly successful.  Osiris-Rex stands for Origins, Spectral Interpretation, Resource Identification, and Security – Regolith Explorer.  It went to the asteroid Bennu and collected over 8 - 9 ounces of sample from the surface, and the sample package came back to Earth, while the satellite continued on to the next part of the mission.  The stamp shows the entry of the sample capsule into the atmosphere Sept. 24, 2023.  Even with the parachute it was a bit of a hard landing in the Utah desert but the sample survived, and has been opened and the first pieces taken out.

It is thought that this sample contains pristine parts of the early Solar System, over 4.5 billion years old.

Sunday Stamps: Food

Good day and welcome to my stamps blog.  It is a seasonally cool morning (40 degrees F) in the American Midwest, and sunny.  It's time for Sunday stamps.

The theme this week is food.  I have two stamps from the US Postal Service,  These are small denomination stamps, to make up postage on your postcard or letter.

These images are from the USPS.  Some yummy looking grapes and apples!

Sunday Stamps: Indigenous Arts and Crafts

Good day, and welcome to my blog.  It's a cool sunny morning in the American Midwest, and the morning fog has burned off.  It's time for Sunday Stamps.

Our theme is indigenous arts and crafts.  I have stamps I have featured before, but they are so beautiful!

A pot from a pueblo in the USA southwest.  This is my favorite style, the amazing black and white patterns.

Older stamps, as you can see (22 cents for first class postage!).  A pane of 4 Navajo rugs.
