It's time for Sunday Stamps, and the theme is places of learning.
My stamp, from the USPS, is a little different. It celebrates 150 years of the US Coast Guard Academy by featuring 2 teaching vessels on it.
The top ship is the Barque Eagle, and the bottom ship is the USCGC Bertholf. More at this link. I guess there is training on a classic sailing ship, and a modern cutter for the students.

Good day, and welcome to my blog. It is a warm humid morning in the American Midwest, and it's time for Sunday Stamps. The theme is mountains.
Having nothing in hand, I used Google to find an appropriate stamp, probably from an on-line seller:
A brown bear and a gorgeous mountain behind. Large mammals need lots of territory to roam, and as the valleys get developed, the mountain habitats are like 'islands' surrounded by development. And there are more chances of bear - human interactions, which rarely go well.

The theme this week is children's stories, such as Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter. I have no stamps for this so I am going to bend the theme a bit and post some stamps of children's toys. Think of children making up their own stories.
Barbie, a toy from the USA and an icon of sorts. This image is from the US Postal Service. In my youth (a long time ago) Barbie was about fashion but now she has many different careers, including as an astronaut.

Good day and welcome to my blog. It's a warm summer morning in the American Midwest, and the air is "unhealthy for sensitive groups". This is better than 2 days ago, when it was "hazardous".

There is a new set of stamps from the US Postal service, issued June 9 of this year, called American Icons.
One of those stamps is a lighthouse.
This image is not from the USPS but from a stamp dealer on-line. It does not say which lighthouse this is, but I suspect it is one of those along the Atlantic seaboard.

I have a stamp from the US Postal Service, for the Underground Railroad:
I am reminded of fellow students in 6th grade, doing a project and presentation on the Underground Railroad. They thought it was an actual physical railroad, sort of like a subway (not reading their sources too closely). I had to tell them it was a network of people, transferring runaway slaves from house to house or other sanctuary. These were known as stations. Luckily, I did this before their oral presentation and writing their report!

I had not prepared a R stamp, so I was at a loss for today. I checked the USPS website, and was saved by the issuance of this set of stamps remembering the 100th anniversary of Route 66, the "Mother Road" that stretched from Chicago to Los Angeles. This set was issued on May 5, 2026.

Welcome to Sunday Stamps, with a letter (Q) that some contributors find difficult. Not me, not this year! The US Postal Service released in February a set of four stamps honoring Harriet Powers and her two amazing quilts.
These two quilts are well known among quilters, and those studying women's history. There is even a book written about Harriet Powers and her quilts, by Kyra Hicks.
From Amazon's website for the book:
"The powerful quilts of Harriet Powers (1837-1910), a former Athens, Georgia slave, continue to capture our imagination today. Her two-known creations, the Bible Quilt and the Pictorial Quilt, have independently survived since stitched more than a century ago. Over the years, thousands of museum visitors to the Smithsonian National Museum of American History in Washington, D.C. and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston have stood transfixed viewing her artwork. Powers' two quilts are arguably the most well-known and cited coverings in American quilt history."
The stamp images are from her Pictorial Quilt, in the Boston museum. I have not seen the quilts in person. Thay are probably not on display all the time, due to their age. I do have Kyra Hicks' book however - an interesting read.

This is a group of four stamps from a larger set. Most of the photographs were taken by Lewis Hine, a famous photographer. According to Wikipedia, "Lewis Wickes Hine (September 26, 1874 – November 3, 1940) was an American sociologist and photographer. Hine used his camera as a tool for social reform. His photographs were instrumental in changing the child labor laws in the United States."
