Sunday Stamps: the Letter "R"

Good day, and welcome to my blog.

I had not prepared a R stamp, so I was at a loss for today.  I checked the USPS website, and was saved by the issuance of this set of stamps remembering the 100th anniversary of Route 66, the "Mother Road" that stretched from Chicago to Los Angeles.  This set was issued on May 5, 2026.

If you have not heard of Route 66, except in a rock song, that's OK.  It's an American thing.  From the 1930's to the 1960's many people moved west to southern California along this road.  The route still exists, but has been renumbered for most of its length.

I have a page on Facebook: keep up with my infrequent quilt and stamp posts at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Viridian61/347674418583948?ref=hl
