Sunday Stamps: Inventions and inventors

Good day, and welcome to my contribution to Sunday Stamps.  Today's theme is inventions and discoveries.

First I must say I don't have this stamp in hand - I have taken its image off the web.

A USA stamp from some time ago, when postage was 20 cents for a first class letter.  Nikola Tesla invented much more than the induction motor; alternating current for one.  There is now a line of electric cars named after him.

Sunday Stamps: Summer

Good Afternoon!  I am coming to Sunday Stamps a bit late today.

This week's theme is Summer.  In the USA a staple of summer is the state or county fair.

This image is from the USPS website. As is the one below, of the 4 se-tenant stamps together:

Clearly I don't have these stamps in hand 😔

Our county fair is in August, and the state fair lasts for several weeks in August too.  My kids when they were little liked to see the animals on display.  When they were older, they wanted the food, and to go on all the rides!  The state fair also has a building with a model railroad set up - HO scale.  There is a big city being modeled with many buildings, and several trains whizzing around.

Sunday Stamps: Cats big and small

Good afternoon, here in the American Midwest.  I am joining Sunday Stamps hosted by SeeitonaPostcard, a bit late.

The theme is Cats, big or small.  I have one from an older stamp from the Ukraine:

These are two stamps from a larger sheet.  That is a thatched roof of a cottage behind the cat and birds.  The cat doesn't seem to be pursuing the birds that closely - or it is distracted by looking at us.

See some more scary stamps of big cats by some of the contributors this week.

Sunday Stamps: Monochrome

Good Day and welcome to my blog.  It's a beautiful Sunday morning in the American Midwest.

The theme for Sunday Stamps this week is Monochrome.  Older stamps  from the USA and other countries fit this description, but I decided to go with a stamp available now:

A $1 stamp, not often seen.  There are similar $5 and $10 stamps too.  I would feel funny wearing an eagle as a headdress!
