Sunday Stamps: Yellow

Good day, and welcome to Sunday Stamps.  I am on a short family vacation to a State Park - but they have internet connectivity!

So here is my post for Sunday stamps, and the theme this week is Yellow.

From the US Postal Service, the iconic American School bus, in a well known bright yellow.  This scan is from the USPS.

Other vehicles are featured at SeeitonaPostcard.

Sunday Stamps: The Inverted Jenny Stamp

Hello and welcome to a pretty Spring day in the American Midwest.

It is time for Sunday Stamps, and the theme is our choice.

I am showing the US Postal Service's reprint (at a different denomination) of one of the most famous misprints in stamp history, the "Inverted Jenny:"

This is available now in the USPS store.
The original air mail stamp, with a face denomination of 24 cents, was printed in 1918.  Only one sheet seems to have gone through the printing press upside down - 100 stamps.
Prices at auction for single stamps vary from $500 K to a million US Dollars.
More at Wikipedia's entry (lots of detail).  Interesting detail I might add.

Sunday Stamps: Women

Good day, welcome to a cloudy but nice day in the American Midwest.

It's time for my contribution to Sunday Stamps.

The them today is women.

I am featuring a stamp released this year by the USPS of Toni Morrison (1931 - 2019), author and Pulitzer Prize winner.  In 1993, she was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature.  She is the author of Tar Baby, The Bluest Eye, Song of Solomon, and Beloved, among others.
I am sorry to say I haven't read any of her books.  But I can look forward to reading them.

Sunday Stamps: Bridges

It's a rainy day in the American Midwest, with thunderstorms waking me up last night.  But the rain is good for the plants and the grass.

It's time for Sunday Stamps.

The theme this week is bridges.  Not having stamps I hadn't shared before, I went searching on the internet, and found a famous bridge in the USA:

As the title points out, this is the very long Mackinac bridge, connecting the two parts of Michigan state.  I like the style of these older stamps.
