Pink Saturday: A new meme: Sunday Stamps

Announcing a new meme: Sunday Stamps!

Do you love stamps as much as I do? Do you consider them little works of art in themselves? Do you have some PINK stamps?  Are you a stamp collector, or do you accumulate large number of stamps in candy boxes or cigar boxes (like me)?

I welcome you to join Sunday Stamps where you can show off your collection. Write a post, publish it, and then link into my blog, http://viridianpostcard.blogspot.com/. We’ll be starting January 9 on this blog. It will be a great way to get over the January blues.

I will be using Linky tools. I plan to open the linky party late Saturday night or early Sunday morning (USA Eastern time) and close it Sunday at midnight.

I look forward to seeing your posts. If you have any trouble posting your link, please email me at viridian61 –at- yahoo.com.

Pink Saturday Oct. 23

Hello and welcome to Pink Saturday!
I am joining with Beverly at How Sweet the Sound. Click on the link and see who else is joining the party.

This card is about the size of Holy Cards (Catholics will know what I mean).  The printing quality is excellent. Cars like this were handed out as prized in Sunday School.  I purchased a lot of these to cut up for collages, but now I can't bear to.

"I will bless thee and make thy name great and thou shalt be a blessing. Gen. XII 2"

Enjoy the rose and beautiful butterfly, and let them enhance your wonderful weekend.  With two boys in trouble at school this week, I sure need some pretty to contemplate.

Pink Saturday

Hello and welcome to Pink Saturday!
I am joining with Beverly at How Sweet the Sound. Click on the link and see who else is joining the party.

This is a card that came as part of a lot on ebay.  They are a little smaller, and a slightly different shape than postcards, but not as small as Holy cards.  I believe they were given out as awards in Sunday Schools of the past.

I consider my religion to be a private thing, and usually don't quote Scripture on this blog.  Here though is what the card says:

"Thus shall they know that I the Lord their God am with them."
"For his great love wherewith he loved us."

I really like the graphics of this period, and this particular pink rose.

Pink Saturday - Oct. 2

Hello and welcome to Pink Saturday!

I am joining with Beverly at How Sweet the Sound. Click on the link and see who else is joining the party.

This is a postcard from Carol in Great Britian, that I received through Postcrossing.  You can read about postcrossing in my previous post.  I have received over 500 card, and I can say that pink ones are rather rare!  It sure is cute.  Unfortuantely the US postal sorting machines have marred the surface.

Thank you Carol, for your card!

Pink Saturday card

Good day everyone, and welcome to Pink Saturday!

I am joining with Beverly at How Sweet the Sound. Click on the links and see who else is joining the party.

This is a card I received through Postcrossing.  What is Postcrossing, you ask?  It is an internet project, where "The goal of this project is to allow people to receive postcards from all over the world, for free. Well, almost free! The main idea is that: if you send a postcard, you will receive at least one back from a random Postcrosser from somewhere in the world."
How it works:
Register, and then:
"1. request an address from the website.
2. mail the postcard to the address
3. wait to receive a postcard
4. register the received postcard in the system."

I have received cards from 62 different countries!  The card above is a hand-made card from Desiree in the Netherlands.  It is sweet and pink.  Pink postcards are NOT as common as you may think!
Happy Pink Saturday,

Happy PFF and Pink Saturday

Good day everyone, and welcome to Postcard Friendship Friday and Pink Saturday!
I am joining with Beth at The Best Hearts are Crunchy for PFF, and Bev at How Sweet the Sound.  Click on the links and see who else is joining the party.

This vintage card has the most wonderful colors and of course, pink flowers.  It is embossed and has gold on it too.  The border, which looks like birch trees, is just an extra touch.

Best wishes to you, where ever you are!

"We are in fellowship with many to celebrate Colette's Miracle Makeover Party. Guideposts Makeover Reveal Party can be viewed by visiting our very own Kelee at The Katillac Shack. Thank you, Kelee, for inspiring us, and for introducing us to Colette. You are a blessing to all of us.

Thank-you Guideposts Magazine for bringing us Colette Gauthier's story."

This postcrossing postcard from China came in January 2009 from a young woman with the most amazing message:

"I look to the new year and my wish for you:
Peace within your heart

Love from family and friends

Hope to make it through each day

Sunshine to light the day

A tear to show compassion

A heart to hold the love.

Happy New Year friend!"

I am of the generation that grew up with images of Chinese people riding bicycles in shapeless Mao suits wearing caps with red stars on them. China was one of the hated Communist enemies. Yes, the country of China has changed greatly since the 1970's. But a postcard message like this changes my thinking, permanently. Maybe there is a chance for world peace to grow, one human interaction at a time.
