Sunday Stamps # 160

Good evening from a Saturday night in the Midwest USA.

Batten down the hatches!  Lay in a supply of groceries and salt for the driveway, for a big storm is coming!!!  Yeah, maybe.  Every other 'big' storm this year has been a mere dribble of snow, compared to what it was supposed to be.

Well, it is time for Sunday Stamps, which we can participate in, from the coziness of our own homes.  Our theme this week is:  Anything you wish.  I will use this week to share a stamp that just arrived on a Postcrossing card from Turkey.  It is pretty but I do not know what it picturing.

There are stylized flowers here, but I am not sure if the pattern in the background has any significance.

Join me this week with any stamp you wish, especially if it seems to defy themes!

Theme next week: Women on stamps (March is Women's History Month)
Theme two weeks from now: Letters, postcards, and the post.

I have a 1972 postcard showing Mexican stamps.

The Turkish stamp is part of a series of definitives with the theme of calligraphy. I guess the calligraphy is the black stroke, but I don't know what the rest of the design means.

My few stamps from Turkey are boring in comparison to this.

I would never have guessed that its subject was modern calligraphy but that fact makes you observe it in a different way and twig that the broad black stroke is a letter.

Thank you Postcardy, for that information. It would be interesting to see the rest of the series.
