Sunday Stamps # 185

Well it's a busy morning here! I am going away with the family for a short vacation at a lakeside cottage and I need to get Sunday Stamps up and rolling.  Last one of the Summer.

Our theme is reptiles.  Amphibians are OK too though.

Lacerta is indeed a genus of lizards.  I was afraid my memory of this stamp was faulty and this might be a salamander!  Anyway a nice stamp from the Czech Republic, rather heavily cancelled!

Please join me this week with a reptile or amphibian.  Add your link below.

Theme next week:  Cultural artifacts, esp jewelry, but could be anything.
Theme week after that:  I'll get back to you!

Sunday Stamps # 184

Welcome back to Sunday Stamps after a week away. For me it was time to get the children ready for school and get ourselves used to a new schedule.  I am still not used to getting up so early!

We return with the easy theme of anything you wish.  Future themes are listed below.  For me, a stamp from Hellas (Greece):

Just one of many stamps that have come my way this sometimes hot August, via Postcrossing.

I hope my regular contributors come back after a week's vacation.  New people, please join us also!  Add your link below.

Sunday Stamps # 183

It's the dog days of summer, and the world continues to have many problems, in the Middle East and elsewhere. August is not a slow news month this year.

Tonight though, and tomorrow, I will think about Sunday stamps, and our theme of undersea life.

These stamps are from Taiwan and show two brightly colored species of coral.  Next up:

A longnose filefish, which could be swimming around with you as you snorkel or scuba.

In these warm days (in the Northern Hemisphere) I do wish I could take the family to the beach.  It's not going to happen this year though, sadly.  So I will study these stamps.

Please join me with any stamp showing undersea life.

No Sunday stamps next week - vacation (getting children ready for school, actually.)
Theme two week's from today: anything you wish.

Sunday Stamps # 182

It's time for Sunday Stamps!  How the weeks go by sometimes!

Our theme this week is Faraway (romantic? exotic?) places.

First, a city known for being very romantic.

I have visited Paris twice, but at both times without a significant other so I can't comment on that.  But it is a beautiful and historic city.

Next, for the exotic:

Remember, I am in the Middle West of the USA, in a staunchly Republican county, that probably has citizens suspicious of all foreigners.  And I have never traveled to Africa.  So when a Postcrossing postcard from Morocco, a new country for me, arrived in the mailbox, I was thrilled.  How exotic!  So you Moroccan residents reading can smirk along with the Parisians fighting traffic about this blog entry.  It's OK.

So... faraway? romantic? exotic?  Share a stamp from such a place.

Theme next week:  undersea life.
Theme week after that: a short vacation break - no Sunday Stamps.
