Sunday Stamps: Automobiles

Good day, and welcome to my contribution to Sunday Stamps.  It is a gloomy day in January, but there have been some great stamps shared today!  Go to SeeitonaPostcard to know more.

The theme this week is automobiles.

The US Postal service currently has a set of stamps for the "Pony cars" of the late 1960's and 1970's - I knew these as "muscle cars" in my youth.  Oh, to see the cars of my youth with antique license plates!
Here is the set:

All images from the USPS web site - I don't have these in hand.

Sunday Stamps: Trees

Good day, and welcome to my blog.  It's about 30 degrees F in the Great American Midwest, and it is snowing gently.  We expect 2 -3 inches.  It's very pretty, on the trees and bushes, but driving could be tricky.

It's time for Sunday Stamps, and the theme this week is trees.

These older stamps from Poland came from a lot I purchased on ebay.  The trees shown are pear (on the left) and cherry (on the right).  Thank you to Google translate to help me translate the Polish!  I certainly didn't recognize the Latin species names.

In spring we'll see flowering trees like this.

Sunday Stamps: Music makers

Good day, and welcome to a cold sunny day in the American Midwest.  It's time for Sunday stamps.

This week's theme is music makers.

This stamp commemorates Pete Seeger (1919 - 2014), American folk singer.  He travelled and collected folk music from around the USA, and wrote some important songs himself. (If I had a hammer, Turn turn turn!, Where have all the flowers gone?)  The stamp is part of the Music Icons series.  This is a current stamp offered by the US Postal Service.

Sunday Stamps: Geology

Good day, and welcome to my contribution to Sunday Stamps.  I am sorry I didn't join in last week, but I really did not have appropriate stamps for the theme.

The theme today is geology, one of my favorite themes!

This is a stamp from my Postcrossing days.  From Hong Kong, it shows a rock formation on an outlying island.  These are tilted sedimentary rocks, eroded and sculpted by waves into a sea stack.
