Sunday Stamps: Night time

Welcome to the last day of the year. It is another cloudy gloomy day in the American Midwest, but no matter, it is time for Sunday Stamps.

The theme this week is Night Scenes.  Here is a stamp from Finland, showing a natural phenomena that can only be seen at night:

The Aurora Borealis.  I have shared this stamp before, but it's nice to see it again.  I have seen only pale versions of the aurora at my latitude, and that rarely.

Sunday Stamps: Christmas

Good Day, and welcome to a foggy, gloomy day in the American Midwest.  It will be a green Christmas for most of the USA for sure.

It's time for Sunday Stamps.  I am sharing a stamp issued last fall for the Christmas season, and yes this scan is from the US Postal Service:

The artist's name is unknown, but the painting is from the Italian Renaissance.  The painting is now at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.  Learn more about this stamp HERE.

Sunday Stamps: Hanukkah

Hello and welcome to my blog.  It is a cloudy and gloomy day in the American Midwest.  But my Christmas cactus is blooming, and that is cheerful.

It's time for Sunday Stamps.

The theme this week is Hanukkah or Christmas stamps.  And yes the US Postal Service has a Hanukkah stamp:

According to the web page, this image shows the lighting of the candles on the last day of Hanukkah.  This stamp was released in the Fall of 2020.

Sunday Stamps: Glass

Good day, and welcome to my blog.  It's a cool and sunny day in the American Midwest, and time for Sunday Stamps.

The theme is glass, and I am re-sharing the stamp that started it all.

This is a French stamp of a stained glass window.  This arrived on a parcel for my friend and roommate C. way back in graduate school.  It opened my eyes to the beauty that could be on a small slip of gummed paper.  It is also the stamp I started Sunday Stamps with, many years ago.

Sunday Stamps: Health or Medicine

Good day, and welcome to my blog.  It is a gray day in the American Midwest, about 41 degrees F, and the light fog has dissipated.  It's time for Sunday Stamps.

The theme today is health or medicine, and Violet Sky has shared a great stamp.  I have one that is now available at the USPS store:

(I don't have this in hand, the image is from the USPS.)
Semipostal stamp (85 cents), raising money to treat those impacted by post-traumatic stress disorder.

The image is of a green plant sprouting, symbolizing the PTSD healing process, growth, and hope.
