Sunday Stamps II # 121

Welcome to my contribution to Sunday Stamps.  Spring is really here in the American Midwest.
The theme this week is green.

I have some humble, everyday stamps, from years ago:

However, they sent many many postcards on their way, in the days when it cost a penny to send a postcard.  I have seen many of these stamps.

Please visit SeeitonaPostcard to see who else is joining in today.

Two fantastic classics. I like the contrast between the two styles.

Classic stamps - I would never have thought of looking for these.

I wouldn't call these humble! Very nice choice.
I've often thought it odd that the USPS thought it necessary to add the word 'postage' to their stamps.

Other state and USA stamps were used to indicate taxes had been paid (on alcohol, for example). Maybe that is why.
