Sunday Stamps # 155

Blizzard-like conditions here in the American Midwest - only a little bit of snow but plenty of high winds.  It's late on Saturday night: it must be time for Sunday Stamps.

Our theme this week is Geology or landscapes, one of my favorite themes.  Regular Sunday Stamps contributors know I like geology and minerals on stamps.   So I was happy when the following stamp came in my mailbox, on a Postcrossing postcard:

Showing a volcano on the Kamchatka peninsula - though I am not sure of which one.

Do you have some geology to share? Or a pretty landscape?  Please join in and link below.

Theme next week: folk art.
Theme week after that: flowers.

I had to get my atlas out to locate the Kamchatka peninsular. You have me looking for stamps depicting volcanoes now.

High winds here too, but with rain. I like it when they put a place and a map together on a stamp. I imagine that is a difficult area to get to.

I didn't think of volcanoes...

I thought at first that was Mount Fuji, but like Hawwa, I didn't think of that.

Found it - it's Karymsky, an active volcano

I should have kept this for a maps on stamps theme!

That's a beauty! I love the colours, and the combination of a picture and the map - and the way the map has been pictured!

From now I will look for mineral stamps - I've never seen (or noticed) them so far. However they're interesting indeed!
