Happy PFF: Chinese stamps

Thank you to our hostess Beth at The Best Hearts are Crunchy for hosting Postcard Friendship Friday. Click on the link to see who else is playing!

Today I am sharing some stamps from China.  These came as part of a sheet and my Postcrossing friend included some of the artwork not actually worth money.  Isn't that neat?  The artwork is amazingly detailed!
A question for someone who knows: Are these peahens? Chinese pheasants?  Just wondering!

Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

I love these stamps! Sometimes I am almost tempted to become a stamp collector, but I'd hate to take them off my cards. :)

Love it! I'm not sure what the birds are, but they are pretty!

How wonderful to receive in this form. A great Postcrossing friend. In answer to your question, I think they are from a miniature sheet of the 'Birds of China' series. The gorgeously coloured bird is a Golden Pheasant and the one next to it is a Yellow-belied Tragopan. Unfortunately never seen either in real life.

These are beautiful. How nice to have a friend to send them to you in this way. They are little works of art. Happy PFF.

Did you call for [philatelic] backup? :) I have the answer, from my friend Ronny: http://ronlovestamps.blogspot.com/2010/11/bird-cover-from-china.html#links

Thank you Joy and Dorincard, for helping me out! I thought Dorin would be able to find the answer. :-) Golden pheasant - just wonderful.

Well, I'm late but showing up any way! Dorin has it right - it's a Golden Pheasant on the left, but I'm unfamiliar with the other one.

Beautiful, detailed stamps. I was wondering what text at the right meant.

wow! i don't think i've ever seen somebody post almost an entire souvenir stamp sheet through the post - what a lovely idea!
btw...i think the other bird is a female golden pheasant with the typically less showy feathers!
