Good day, and welcome to my blog. It is a cooler morning in the American Midwest - perhaps the heat dome has left us.
It's time for Sunday Stamps. We are up to the letter W.
I have a stamp from the US Postal Service, honoring Phillis Wheatley, an early enslaved African poet.
Captured in West Africa as a child, she was taken to Boston and sold to the Wheatley family. They educated her. They encouraged her writing. A book of her poems was published in London England in 1773 and brought her some fame. The Wheatleys emancipated her soon after publication of her book.More at her Wikipedia entry.

I have a page on Facebook: keep up with my infrequent quilt and stamp posts at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Viridian61/347674418583948?ref=hl
