Sunday Stamps #40

This week we stop in Mainland Asia (by which I mean not including Japan, Taiwan, Philipines).

This is an older stamp from for Laos that has been in my stamp box for a long time.  I don't remember how I acquired it, but I like the elephants and the overall design.

Looking at the Wikipedia entry, Laos has been the Lao People's Democratic Republic since 1975, so this stamp must be older than that.

Next week: We stop at the Ocean and Island nations of the Pacific, including Indonesia, Japan, Taiwan, the Philipines, and others (Nauru anyone?)  Then our final stop will be in Australia and New Zealand.

That is an attractive stamp. I just looked up laos elephants postage stamp and got this information from an ebay listing: The stamp is from a set of 7 elephant stamps issued in 1958.

Nice drawing, I can't remember seeing a lot of elephant stamps, the set sounds interesting.

I've seen and admired some of these elephant stamps before, they are pretty, as is the script.

Beautiful stamp - makes my submission this week look a little pale in comparison. Happy Sunday Stamps !!

Bringing up the rear.... I've only just arrived home.

Somehow I've never associated elephants with Laos so the stamp is very interesting.
