Sunday Stamps: the letter "Z"

Good day, and welcome to my blog.  8 inches of snow fell overnight, and it's snowing now.  The prediction is 6 more inches to fall by 6 PM today.  Yikes!  We are going nowhere, so it's best to stay in and blog about Sunday Stamps.

We are up to the letter Z in the alphabet, and we are going to do the round of the alphabet again.  I went to the website of the US Postal Service, not to find Z stamps, but to prepare with an A stamp for next week.  But I found a stamp that might do for this week:

A semi postal stamp (90 cents) raising money for Alzheimer's disease research.  More information on this stamp is on its web page

Sunday Stamps: the letter "Y"

Good day, and welcome to my blog.  It's a cold but clear day in the American Midwest, and it's time for Sunday Stamps.

We are up to the letter "Y" in the tour of the alphabet run by our host.  It can be a difficult letter to find stamps for.  Upon the suggestion of "yellow" from other contributors, I went to find a stamp featuring yellow, that I have shared before:

A lovely yellow flower from Taiwan.

The Latin name is given on the stamp (as well as the Taiwanese name), but I do not know the name in English.

Sunday Stamps: the letter "X"

Good day, and welcome to a cold cloudy day in the American Midwest.

X is a hard letter to find any words or stamps, but my colleagues have done well (check out SeeitonaPostcard).

I have an USA stamp for today though - not in hand; the image is from a stamp dealer.

Malcolm X was an American civil rights leader, active until his assassination in 1965.  His Wikipedia entry is HERE. There is a Malcolm X day, celebrated in Berkeley CA May 19 - his birthday.  I did not know this.

Sunday Stamps: the letter "W"

Good day and welcome to my blog, and Happy New Year!

It is a cloudy day in the American Midwest, I am back from family travels, and it's time for Sunday Stamps.

This week we are up to the letter "W".

Author Edith Wharton, first woman to win a Pulitzer Prize for fiction.

And a large collection of wildlife.  Purchased long ago, I like the illustrations.
