Good morning and welcome to my blog. It is a cool sunny late Spring day in the American Midwest, and it's time for Sunday Stamps.
The theme today is creepy-crawlies. This could be insects, or other invertebrates. Yes insects are on stamps, though not often.
First:
A butterfly from the USPS. This stamp is for square envelopes. Most people find this insect beautiful.
And then there's an older stamp:
A dung beetle, from a set of stamps featuring insects released in 1999. Eww. Well, the entomologists were happy with that set of stamps.
Be sure to visit SeeitonaPostcard for more entries.
I have a page on Facebook: keep up with my infrequent quilt and stamp posts at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Viridian61/347674418583948?ref=hl

The dung beetle is very attractive in this stamp :-)
ReplyDeleteOh, I agree!
DeleteI've been watching a PBS series on bugs (which made me think of this theme) and am slowly beginning to appreciate beetles.
ReplyDeleteOoh a special stamp for square envelopes. The US seems to have an interesting variety of stamp rates. A lovely stamp for a birthday card.
ReplyDeleteThat dung beetle may not win any beauty contests, but it’s a fascinating choice
