Sunday Stamps # 155

Blizzard-like conditions here in the American Midwest - only a little bit of snow but plenty of high winds.  It's late on Saturday night: it must be time for Sunday Stamps.

Our theme this week is Geology or landscapes, one of my favorite themes.  Regular Sunday Stamps contributors know I like geology and minerals on stamps.   So I was happy when the following stamp came in my mailbox, on a Postcrossing postcard:

Showing a volcano on the Kamchatka peninsula - though I am not sure of which one.

Do you have some geology to share? Or a pretty landscape?  Please join in and link below.

Theme next week: folk art.
Theme week after that: flowers.

Sunday Stamps #154

Good Saturday evening! It's cold and snowy here in the American Midwest. I am a little later than usual, but it's time to set up Sunday Stamps.

Our theme this week is pets, which I think will be a favorite of my contributors.  I thought of this theme when I received this stamp recently from Great Britain:

Given its value (22 p) I would guess this stamp was issued some time ago.  Hmm, my new scanner does not seem to catch the detail of this stamp.  Maybe I am scanning at  too low a resolution.  Well now I know.

Please join me this week with your stamp of choice, showing a pet.

Theme next week:  Geology or landscapes.
Theme week after that: Folk art.

Sunday Stamps # 153

Hello again Sunday Stamp contributors! We keep rolling along week after week, keeping a routine to my (and your) Saturday Night and Sunday morning.  We have a new all-in-one scanner/printer at chez Viridian so that slowed me down a little this evening as I learned the new procedures for scanning.  But all is now ready to go for Sunday Stamps.

Our theme this week is anything you wish.
I am still in a wintry mood and so I am scanning this stamp from Finland:

I have received at least one other in this series - sweet vintage illustrations of children in the winter.

Coming up: I'll be repeating some favorite themes, and I will appreciate any suggestions.  After 152 weeks, there is going to be some repetition!

Theme next week: pets.
Theme the week after that: geology or landscapes.

Sunday Stamps # 152

It is a wintry evening here in the American Midwest.  Soon snow will be coming down, though how much is being debated even now by the meteorologists.

I hope you enjoyed the holidays, and remembered to scan your stamps for this week's Sunday Stamps.

As you may recall, our theme this week is Olympics stamps, featuring Sochi or any other Games.  I should have held this theme for a few weeks, as the Games are still several weeks off.  Oh well here we are. I have a stamp from Russia which does not show a sporting event, but which does bear the imprint of Sochi:

This will have to do.  I hope my contributors this week have a wide variety of stamps!!  Please join me with stamps from any Olympic Games.

Theme next week:  Anything you wish.
Theme two weeks from now: Hmm.... I'll get back to you!
